DESTINATION LECTURER

Dr. Jay Wolff is an internationally known and acclaimed history and destination lecturer, who travels the world and presents in-depth lectures about the people and events that have shaped the places visited along the way. He takes the facts of history and the legends and folkways of civilizations and weaves them into stories of people and events that have shaped the world. He delights audiences with his riveting storytelling and his ability to deliver each lecture without notes.

Dr. Wolff took his undergraduate and doctoral degrees at Georgetown University in Washington DC, and began researching and writing historical articles while practicing his first profession, dentistry. A member of the faculty of Florida Gulf Coast University's Renaissance Academy and elected a member of the British Royal Society of Health, he has published more than a hundred articles on history and culture and healthcare in professional journals as well as American Heritage, Forbes, American Legacy, The Washington Post and The L.A. Times. He has been a commentator on The History Channel and is an enthusiastically received destination lecturer who brings history to life.

Lectures given:

“Hamilton, Franklin and the Miracle at Philadelphia.” The phrase “The miracle at Philadelphia” was penned by George Washington in a 1788 letter to Gen. Lafayette, describing what happened when Hamilton, Franklin, Jefferson, Madison, et al, gathered to write the Constitution that is the backbone of America.

“Cuba Libre – The Prince and the Pauper.” Cuba was freed from Spanish colonialism by the US in the Spanish-American War in 1898 and freed 2 years later. Its leaders made it a source of tropical fruit, tourism, and depravity. A rich man’s son, Fidel Castro, led it to the haven of Communism and bankruptcy.

“Mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle.” Tales are told of ghost ships and ships and crews that mysteriously vanish without a trace in the Bermuda Triangle. These stories have a powerful hold on our imaginations. Dr. Jay contrasts the realities and the fantasies.

SPECIAL INTEREST LECTURER: WORLD AFFAIRS

Ambassador Marc Ginsberg spent his formative years in the Middle East (Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt) and was the first U.S. Ambassador of Jewish heritage to an Arab nation.  Appointed by President Clinton, he served four years in Morocco (1994-1998).

Amb. Ginsberg commenced his government career as a national security legislative assistant to Senator Edward M. Kennedy (1971-1977).  During the Carter Administration he served as White House Liaison for Secretary of State Vance and Chief of Staff to Special Envoy Gov. Averell Harriman (1977-1979).  In 1979 he was appointed Deputy Senior Adviser to President Carter for Middle East Policy.

He earned his law degree from Georgetown University in 1978. He practiced international commercial and corporate law from 1981-1993. In 1981, he became one of the co-founders of Sutton Place Gourmet (now Balduccis), one of America’s largest gourmet food retail emporiums.

In 1993, Amb. Ginsberg served as Deputy Press Secretary to President Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign, and co-national security director for Vice President Al Gore’s 2000 presidential campaign.

Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he was co-founder and President of Layalina Arab television productions,  the first U.S. Arab language television production company serving the Middle East chaired by former President George H.W. Bush.

Currently, Amb. Ginsberg serves as Senior Diplomatic Adviser to the Counter Extremism Project, based in New York, whose mission is to provide governments and corporations technological support to rapidly identify and facilitate the removal of extremist content from global social media platforms.  Amb. “Putin & Biden: Post Geneva Summit Readout: Is the Cold War Getting Colder or Warmer?” By most accounts, President Biden’s summit meeting with Russia’s Putin was meant to create new bilateral “rules of the road” governing ransomware attacks, hacking, and cooperation in Syria. What hints do we have so far that the two leaders reached some basic agreements on volatile issues?

“Israel & Hamas “10.0” Can the new Israeli government prevent another war with Hamas? The latest outbreak of hostilities between Israel and Iran-backed Hamas terrorists resulted yet again in an inconclusive cease-fire which is barely holding. Is there a long-term Hamas solution for Israel? What are the prospects for a two-state solution and the longevity of the Bennet/Lapid government? Can the Abraham Accords bring Israel real peace?
